New York Mayor Bill de Blasio and Minneapolis Mayor Jacob Frey are idiots because they allow demonstrators to smash and burn their cities, former New York Mayor Rudi Giuliani told Newsmax TV.
“These progressive democratic idiots — because they have a philosophy of idiots, a completely unrealistic philosophy of life — they absolutely cannot control the situation,” Giuliani said on Monday in Greg Kelly Reports. “Bill de Blasio gave them the bridge. This means that they will want another bridge. They will want to burn buildings. They will want to burn cars, as they have already done. They have already beaten about 60 or 70 police officers. They beat another 100 people. ”
Giuliani focused on Frey allowing protesters to burn a police station in Minneapolis. He said that meeting protesters ’demands would only encourage them to commit more violent acts of violence.
Similarly, Giuliani said that Bill de Blasio, yielding to the violent will of protesters in New York, would only bring even more violence to the city.
“The worst thing is that the police department didn’t react at all, but all because the mayor forbids them to do this,” Giuliani said. “I went to Brooklyn and near the Barclays Center I talked to the police, young people, and they told me how upset they were. One of them said: “At the moment, we are pears for whipping.”
On Monday morning, Giuliani tweeted that Bill de Blasio could not settle the riots in New York. As an example of how to maintain order, he mentioned his own management style in a similar situation when he was mayor.
Giuliani was mayor of New York from 1994 to 2001. In 1999, mass protests broke out in the city after the death of Amadou Diallo, a 22-year-old Guinean immigrant who was shot dead by police while reaching for his wallet. In the weeks of protests in front of the NYPD, some 1,200 people were arrested. Giuliani said that during this time all protests were within the law. Illegal actions were immediately stopped by the police.
