The United States Permanent Representative to the European Union, Gordon Sondland, is expected to speak on October 16 at closed hearings in the House of Representatives of the US Congress as part of the impeachment procedure of the head of the White House, Donald Trump.
Earlier, Bloomberg reported that Sondland, through his lawyer, notified congressmen that he would not attend the House of Representatives hearing scheduled for Tuesday, October 8th. The lawyer's letter stated that Sondland was ready for the meeting, but received a corresponding order from his leadership in the US State Department. On the same day, Democrats sent a diplomat to the diplomat demanding to appear at the hearing on October 16.

Democrat Biden is now Trump's most likely rival in the upcoming November 2020 presidential election. Therefore, according to the Democrats, Trump, putting pressure on Zelensky, sought to enlist the support of Kyiv in his efforts to be re-elected for a second term.
