The United States could completely end relations with China because of the situation with the coronavirus, Donald Trump said in an interview with Fox News.
"We could do a lot of things. We could completely break the relationship.<...> If you did, what would happen? You would save $500 billion if you completely broke the relationship.”
So the head of state answered the leader’s request to comment on the proposal of one of the US senators, who admitted that Washington could stop issuing visas to Chinese students. Trump also noted that he has a good relationship with Chinese leader Xi Jinping, but now he does not want to call him.
Earlier, Republican Lindsay Graham said that he introduced the bill on responsibility for COVID-19 on sanctions against China for the spread of coronavirus to the Senate. The document proposes restrictions if Beijing does not provide a full report on the occurrence of an outbreak. Eight more Republican senators voted for him.
The Chinese side expressed a strong protest, calling the project ignoring the facts and allowing the imposition of retaliatory sanctions.
