How the US and European countries plan to exit quarantine

The world continues to fight the coronavirus pandemic. The World Health Organization has warned that any removal of quarantine restrictions should be gradual, and if restrictions are lifted too soon, a new outbreak of COVID-19 will occur. Meanwhile, in many European countries, a part of quarantine restrictions has already been lifted, while in the USA, where the highest incidence rate in the whole world, preparing to ease the quarantine regime.

Belgium, where developed new tests for coronavirus, will begin to quit quarantine on May 4, easing restrictions were divided into three stages, reports Le Soir.

It is noted that the Prime Minister of Belgium Sophie Vilmes presented a detailed plan to ease quarantine restrictions in the country. The first phase will begin on May 4: industrial enterprises resume work. In a week, on May 11, all stores will begin to work.

The second stage will begin on May 18. From this day, children will go to school, priority will be for students in those classes that must pass exams. At the same time, no more than 10 students will study in a class at a time. All students over 12 years old must wear masks. Also, at this stage, the service industry enterprises will resume their work, upon the rendering of which there is contact with customers — beauty salons and museums. They will allow meetings with friends at home, expand the number of people who can attend weddings or funerals.

The third stage was planned for June 8: restaurants and hotels, companies offering travel services will begin to restore work. However, along with the weakening of quarantine, a “mask mode” is introduced in public transport and the school. Starting May 4, it is planned to increase the testing ability to 25,000 tests per day and carefully monitor the contacts of patients with COVID-19.

The prime minister noted that if the number of new infections increases again, the reintroduction of restrictions is possible. To date, more than 46 thousand people infected with coronavirus have been identified in the country, more than 7 thousand people have died.

Germany partially eased quarantine measures on April 20 — small shops were opened, as well as car dealerships, bicycle shops, and workshops. But the students are still at home. Classes in schools will be restored only on May 4, and even then — in graduation classes. Then open and hairdressing salons. Massage salons, cosmetologist's offices, and brothels — all where physical contact is provided — will not work yet.

German Chancellor Angela Merkel asked not to relax and take care of security:

“This is only the beginning of the pandemic, and we are still far from leaving it. If we remove all restrictions now, we don’t know for sure what the consequences will be. Therefore, we must move very slowly and carefully.”

20 American states, in which 40% of the country's population live, ready for the immediate lifting of the sanitary restrictions imposed in connection with the coronavirus on April 22.

“They want to get back to work. The country wants to get back to work,” US President Donald Trump said at a White House briefing.

The owner of the White House emphasized that the governors will be able to decide when to remove restrictions since the situation in each state is different. But the pandemic made adjustments: as of April 28, almost a million cases of infection were recorded in the United States — this is the worst indicator in the world. At the same time, more than 56 thousand people died, and about 111 thousand recovered and left medical facilities.

As a result, the elimination of quarantine was moved to May.

“Only 16 states have postponed plans for a restart. The remaining 34 states say they plan to do so soon,” US administration spokeswoman Kaylee McEnani answered Fox’s presenter’s question about whether May will be a transition month to restore the US economy.

In New York, mass events are not planned for at least another two months. The mayor of the largest US city announced: no concerts and parades until the end of June. The LGBT Pride, the Puerto Rican parade, and the annual march “Salute, Israel!” Will have to be postponed.

“I’m not happy to announce it, but I have to postpone a lot of events. We will think with the organizers how best to do it. The celebration will be returned at a more convenient time,” said Bill de Blasio, mayor of the Big Apple.

Czech Republic

The CTK news agency, citing First Deputy Prime Minister and Czech Interior Minister Jan Gamachek, said the government had already decided to extend the emergency regime until May 25.

But how it all began well — earlier the Czech Minister of Health Adam Vojtech announced the abolition of quarantine from April 24.

We (the government) decided to cancel the ban on the free movement of citizens in the Czech Republic on Friday, April 24th. Previously, measures were in place, according to which people could only go to work and home, to the pharmacy, for food, and not stay anywhere. The epidemiological situation allows us to do this under certain conditions, “said the head of the Czech Ministry of Health.

The main condition, according to Wojciech, was permission to gather in public places in groups of up to 10 people — previously, only two citizens were allowed to meet outside the living quarters.

At the same time, farmers' markets opened on April 21, but some farmers did not return to them.

Recall that in the Czech Republic on March 12 there is an emergency mode, and on March 16 a national quarantine was introduced. Since the beginning of March, more than 7 thousand positive tests for coronavirus have been received in the republic. More than 200 residents of the Czech Republic died of a disease caused by a virus, almost 3 thousand were cured.

The Spanish Minister of Labor announced on April 21 that a phased quarantine plan envisages the opening of the tourism industry no earlier than the end of the year. Therefore, foreigners are advised not to book trips. Moreover, domestic travel is also limited until May 9th. For just one attempt to escape from the central regions to the area of sea resorts, a fine of 1.5 thousand euros is provided.

Earlier we talked about the number of deaths exceeded 20 thousand. Since mid-March, the kingdom has been on high alert due to the spread of coronavirus. This measure allowed the authorities to restrict the movement of residents throughout the country, except in cases of emergency.

According to Italian Prime Minister Giuseppe Conte, his government, together with expert groups, has been working on a plan to return the country to normalcy from May 4.

“Until the end of this week, I promise to inform about the plan and make public all the details of our program. We can expect that we will begin its implementation on May 4,” Conte said.

At the same time, he notes that “to open everything at once would be an irresponsible decision.”

“We cannot move away from the line of maximum caution, we cannot be guided by the satisfaction of the needs of certain categories. We must return to normal life on the basis of a detailed plan that takes into account all the introductory ones,” the prime minister added.
