“A threat to all mankind”: UN Secretary-General addresses countries because of coronavirus

Coordinated action by all countries is required as directed by the WHO to suppress the spread of the virus.

The COVID-19 pandemic is the most difficult crisis the international community has faced since the Second World War. This was stated by UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres, who previously said that the UN is launching a global plan to combat coronavirus.

“This is the most difficult crisis that we have encountered since the Second World War. We need a strong and effective answer that is possible only if everyone shows solidarity with each other, forget about political games and realize that humanity is at stake,” he stressed.

The Secretary-General also reproached the countries with the fact that “not everyone is following the orders of WHO.”

“There is a tendency that each country goes its own way,” said Guterres.

“We need coordinated action by all countries according to WHO guidelines to suppress the spread of the virus,” he said.

The Secretary-General warned that coronavirus is a threat to all of humanity, and will also have economic consequences, “which will provoke a recession that, apparently, was not seen in the recent past.”

Earlier it was reported that at the UN, because of the coronavirus, remote work was extended until the end of April.
