In Italy, for the second day in a row, the number of new infections has been growing — in a day it has increased by 5959 people. At the same time, the growth rate of those who recovered was noticeably reduced.





In Italy, 969 people infected with COVID-19 coronavirus have died in the last 24 hours. This is a record number since the pandemic, the Italian Civil Protection Department said on Thursday, March 26.

Now the total number of victims of the pandemic in the country is 9134. The day before, 662 deaths were reported in Italy.

The number of people infected in Italy since the start of the pandemic has reached 86,498. Over the past day, their number increased by 5959. Thus, the growth of infected people continues for the second day in a row after a five-day decline — 4492 infected were reported the day before.



Also, the number of recovered increased by 589 people. There are now 109501 in total. At the same time, 999 recovered were reported the day before, and the day before yesterday, about 1036.





Recall that the WHO believes that this week Italy can reach its peak of coronavirus disease.

It was also reported that the actual number of people infected with coronavirus in Italy may exceed the official figures by ten times.
