Almost 50 thousand employees of the General Motors automobile corporation have been rallying for three weeks, demanding higher wages and better working conditions.
It is reported by the Voice of America.
Workers stopped working on September 15th. According to them, the company receives millions of profits but does not increase salaries.
The management of the corporation denies the accusations of profits but says that in recent years, revenues have been falling due to the slowdown in the global economy.
Over the past 50 years, this is the largest strike against the automaker in the United States.
Earlier, US President Donald Trump proposed that General Motors automobile corporation return to the United States production transferred abroad, including to China.
We wrote earlier that in 2018, Trump expressed disappointment with the decision of General Motors management to close factories in Ohio, Michigan, and Maryland, and not in Mexico or China. He also lamented that he did not count on such “gratitude” of the auto giant for the help of the federal government in 2008.
