Russia, China, and Iran spread misinformation about coronavirus, — Pompeo

US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo on Friday made a statement that misinformation about coronavirus comes from Russia, China, Iran.

“Of course, we saw how it (misinformation about COVID-19) came from places like China, Russia, and Iran,” he said at a briefing.

According to him, these countries are trying to undermine US efforts to combat coronavirus.

“We spoke directly with these countries, they said ... that we do not approve of this,” said Pompeo.

He added that the US administration is trying to gain the confidence of fellow citizens in official sources of information about the pandemic.

Earlier this week, Mike Pompeo, in a telephone conversation with the head of the Office of the CPC Central Committee Commission on Foreign Affairs, Yang Jiechi urged Beijing not to disseminate claims that the United States could be involved in the distribution of the 2019 COVID coronavirus.

Prior to this, Foreign Ministry spokesman Zhao Lijian suggested that the US military brought the COVID-19 coronavirus to Wuhan.

“When the so-called null patient appeared in the USA? How many people are infected? Which hospitals brought them to? Perhaps this is the US military who brought the epidemic to Wuhan. Be transparent! Share the information! The USA should explain to us,” he wrote on Twitter.
