Huawei's first smartphones introduced in 2020

Huawei released the first flagships of 2020

In March, Huawei announced immediately two junior models from the new flagship line of Huawei P40: lite and lite E. It was with them that the series of annual spring premieres of Huawei began. Interestingly, phones marked lite appear on sale earlier than the flagship P40 Pro. From them, it is already possible to guess that the series as a whole will be distinguished by a peculiar design, ample opportunities for photo and video and a powerful battery.

Huawei P40 lite — at the flagship's opening act

Despite the fact that the Huawei P40 Lite is a lightweight version of the flagship, it is equipped with fairly powerful hardware. The smartphone runs on a proprietary eight-core Kirin 810 processor and has 6 gigabytes of RAM. The internal storage capacity is 128 gigabytes (you can expand it separately to 256 gigabytes), and the battery capacity is 4200 milliampere-hours. In addition, the device supports 40 watts SuperCharge fast charging technology: a complete power supply replenishes the battery's energy up to 70 percent in half an hour. At the same time, a full charge is enough for 22 hours of watching a video or 114 hours of listening to music.

Four cameras and a screen without a bang

A key feature of the P40 lite is its quad-camera. It is inscribed in a miniature block in the upper left corner of the back cover. The camera consists of four lenses: the main lens with a resolution of 48 megapixels, an ultra-wide-angle lens of 8 megapixels (120 degrees), a macro lens of 2 megapixels and a depth sensor of 2 megapixels. This set allows you to shoot portraits with bokeh effect and take detailed photos even in low light conditions — an advanced night mode is provided for the latter option.

The diagonal of the wide IPS screen is 6.4 inches. It has high-resolution Full HD + — a suitable option for watching movies or clips on social networks. The frames around the display are thin, while there are no “bangs” and “monobrow” — the front camera of 16 megapixels is hidden in a tiny hole under the screen. The sensor supports the function of beautification: artificial intelligence allows you to correct skin defects and give your face a more fresh look when shooting photos and videos, even if you take a selfie in the dark.

The Huawei P40 lite also has a fingerprint scanner built into the power button at the end of the case. The device is running Android 10 with the fresh EMUI 10 shell. The proprietary AppGallery application store and popular applications are fully operational here.

Huawei P40 lite E — the most affordable model in the series

Huawei P40 lite E has become the most affordable model of the new flagship line. The low price is due to slightly trimmed characteristics, although the device's performance is still enough for any everyday tasks. The screen remained the same, but the “heart” of the smartphone was the eight-core Kirin 710F chipset, working in tandem with 4 gigabytes of RAM. The internal memory has decreased to 64 gigabytes, but the phone supports microSD-flash drives up to 512 gigabytes. The battery remains as powerful as in the P40 Lite: 4000 milliampere-hours.

The camera practically has not changed, manufacturers only removed the macro lens. At the same time, the main 48-megapixel sensor, an ultra-wide-angle 8-megapixel lens, and a ToF lens remained on the rear panel. Moreover, the phone can shoot videos with a wide-angle and slow-mo effect (up to 40 frames per second).
