WHO announces the start of coronavirus vaccine testing

The organization called it an “unimaginable achievement” because the genetic sequence of the virus was released just 60 days ago.

The vaccine against COVID-19 began to be tested. This was stated by the Director-General of the World Health Organization Tedros Adhan Ghebreyesus at a briefing in Geneva on Wednesday, March 18.

“The first vaccine tests began, just 60 days after the virus’s genetic sequence was released. This is an unimaginable achievement. We recommend that researchers around the world systematically evaluate experimental drugs,” he said.

It was also reported that the WHO explained the difference between COVID-19 and its predecessors SARS and MERS. The new coronavirus spreads faster, its symptoms are easier, so many people do not suspect that they are sick.
