Trump secured the opportunity to be re-elected — media

The American leader scored enough delegates to become a Republican candidate.

The current president of the United States, Donald Trump, enlisted the support of a sufficient number of delegates to nominate a Republican party candidate in the upcoming presidential election on March 17. This was reported by CNN on the basis of the primary elections in the states of Illinois and Florida.

Trump is expected to win in both states and has currently received the votes of 1,301 delegates.

In order to be nominated as a Republican candidate at a congress to be held from August 24 to 27 in North Carolina, 1276 out of 2441 participants are required to be delegated following the results of activist meetings and primary elections.

The primaries of the Republicans, when the president representing their party is re-elected for a second term, is largely a formality. However, Trump regularly travels to the states and speaks at campaign rallies.

Unlike Republicans, Democrats choose a presidential candidate in a tough fight. At the moment, it is led by former US Vice President Joe Biden.

Recall, the 59th presidential election will be held on November 3.
