The attacks significantly impaired Hezbollah’s ability to conduct activities against the forces of the anti-terrorist coalition in Iraq, the Pentagon believes.

The U.S. military launched airstrikes at Kataib Hezbollah groupings scattered throughout Iraq. The Pentagon announced this on Thursday, March 12.

“These attacks were defensive, proportional in nature and were a direct response to the threat posed by Iran-supported Shiite militia groups that continue to attack the bases on which coalition forces are deployed,” the report said.

It is indicated that the attacks were aimed at five weapons storage. The military believes that this has significantly impaired Hezbollah’s ability to carry out future attacks against the anti-terror coalition forces in Iraq.

“The United States will not tolerate attacks on our people, our interests or our allies,” said US Secretary of Defense Mark Esper.

On the eve, it became known that on March 11, two US troops and another military of a country participating in the international anti-terrorist coalition died as a result of rocket fire at the Iraqi military base of Et-Taj. Also, as a result of the attack, 12 people were injured, five of whom are in serious condition.

It was also reported that US aircraft hit the base of the Iraqi militia al-Hashd al-Shaabi on the Syrian border with Iraq.
