The EU will develop a bill on a single connector for charging smartphones
The European Commission will submit a bill requiring different manufacturers to install the same connector for charging cell phones, tablets, and headphones. The novelty will be introduced on September 23, writes Reuters.
Such an initiative has been discussed for more than ten years. The EU also believes it will be more environmentally friendly and convenient for the user.
Apple is likely to be most affected by innovation. It uses Lightning connectors when most other manufacturers are installing USB micro-B or USB-C.
Earlier it was reported that smartphone manufacturers have been adding fast charging to their devices in recent years - they offer to charge gadgets at prohibitive speeds, without giving the user any clear answers to the question of how bad it is for the battery. Because of this, many myths about this technology have appeared online, up to and including stories about exploding smartphones.
