The Americans carried out an airstrike on one of the leaders of Al-Qaeda in Syria
The United States military attacked one of the leaders of the terrorist group "Al-Qaeda" in Syria. This was announced by Pentagon spokesman John Kirby during a briefing, reports PBS NewsHour.
The U.S. side believes that it was able to hit the target. The information was provided by the Central Command of the U.S. Armed Forces, which acknowledged responsibility for the airstrike near the city of Idlib.
"According to preliminary estimates, the strike reached its target. There is currently no reason to assume civilian casualties," Kirby explained.
Earlier it was reported that Idlib province remains the last terrorist stronghold in Syria. In addition to the armed opposition formations, units and subunits of the constantly changing names of the group "Jabhat al-Nusra", which is connected with the terrorist network Al-Qaeda, are stationed there.
