Anthony Fauci gave a pandemic prediction
It is very difficult to predict how coronavirus infection will behave in the future, the expert stressed.
Anthony Fauci, director of the US National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases, believes that the coronavirus pandemic may end in spring 2022. About this writes The Telegraph.
At the same time, he stressed that making an accurate prediction is extremely difficult because COVID-19 has proven to be a rather "unpredictable virus."
"I think we all have to be very honest — we don't know. This virus has fooled us many times in different waves around the world as a whole and in every single country, including the U.S. and the U.K. I hope it happens next spring," Fauci said.
That said, he noted that the coronavirus is a very troubling experience when many times people thought they could beat it, but new strains of the virus reappeared.
"In the United States, as we were approaching summer, we were reducing cases every day, and then there was a big surprise in the form of the 'Delta' strain, and it just knocked us out. And now we're back to 130,000 to 140,000 cases a day. So I don't want to make any firm predictions about what's going to happen next," Fauci added.
Earlier, it was reported that more than one billion citizens in China have been fully immunized against the coronavirus.
