India vaccinated 22 million people in 24 hours for the prime minister's birthday
Indian health workers vaccinated more than 22 million people against the coronavirus overnight on September 17-a a new record in the history of the country. Information on this is given on the website of the Ministry of Health.
According to the BBC and India Today, the reason was the desire of citizens and local authorities to celebrate the birthday of the republic's Prime Minister Narendra Modi, who turns 71. вЂњThis is a gift from health officials and citizens to the prime minister,вЂќ said the country's health minister, Mansukh Mandavia.

The previous record for the number of people vaccinated in India was set for Aug. 27 at 13 million. A total of about 787 million people in the country have received both doses of the vaccine. Earlier it became known that Indian scientists plan to complete the development of a drug to vaccinate adolescents against coronavirus by October 2021.
