Blinken commented on the "shutdown" of the broadcast with Biden
US Secretary of State Anthony Blinken said President Joe Biden is capable of "speaking for himself" and there is no one in the White House who would dare interrupt him. This is what the New York Post writes.
Earlier, the White House cut Biden off in mid-sentence — tech support abruptly shut down the live broadcast of the American president's meeting in Idaho. A plug message for viewers appeared in place of the image. The meeting was about the wildfires that are affecting several states in the west.
On that occasion, one senator asked Blinken why the broadcast was suspended and "who has the right to push the button."
"I think anyone who knows the president is aware that he speaks very clearly and deliberately for himself ... I don't know what you're referring to, but I've worked with the president for 20 years. He speaks for himself ... If anyone tries to stop him from saying what he thinks, speaking his mind, probably won't stay in office long," Blinken said.
In late August, at a White House briefing, President Biden tried to make a joke in response to a question about Afghanistan, but his microphone was cut off. Then an NBC reporter asked Biden what he would do if the U.S. military failed to meet its evacuation deadline. The American leader smiled and, after thinking about it, said, "You will be the first person I call." He did not finish speaking, but his microphone suddenly went off.
