The scandal about MacBook cracks on the screens: users sued
Owners of MacBook Air M1 and MacBook Pro M1, who encountered cracks on the screens of their laptops during normal use, file a class action suit against Apple. Reported by 9to5mac.
First complaints about the appearance of cracks on the screens of the new MacBook appeared in the summer of 2021. Customers reported that they simply closed the lid of the notebook and saw the wrinkles on the display the next time we opened it.
Apple confirms that the cracks are the result of physical damage. In some cases, the company repaired or replaced the devices free of charge, but most other users were forced to pay for the repairs.
One of the likely causes described by Apple Support is a small amount of dirt or dust between the keyboard and the screen, which presses on the display when the lid is closed and causes damage. In turn, such breakdowns are not covered by the warranty, so the company refuses customer's free repairs.
The law firm Migliaccio & Rathod LLP is ready to represent the interests of victims in court and is now collecting data from owners of problematic MacBooks.
