A new vaccine has been created in the USA — it saves both from flu and from coronavirus

The American company Novavax announced the completion of a major phase of work on its new combination vaccine. This vaccine will protect against coronavirus and flu.

Reported by Reuters.

Vaccine research will be conducted in Australia. The study will include 640 people aged 50 to 70 years who have already been ill with COVID-19 or have been vaccinated against it.

Study participants will receive a combination of the NVX-CoV2373 COVID-19 and NanoFlu influenza vaccines.

"The combination of these two vaccines can provide a high level of protection against coronavirus and influenza with a single regimen," said Novavax research and development manager Gregory Glenn.

Pfizer May Create Vaccine Against New Strain

Pfizer can create a vaccine against a new strain of coronavirus within three months of its detection. The manufacturer's scientists are constantly studying the effectiveness of drugs against new variants of infection, said the CEO of the company Albert Burla.

“Every time another variant (of the coronavirus) appears in the world, our scientists are studying whether this variant can bypass the protection of our vaccine. At the moment, we have not identified a single such (strain). Will appear," Burla said.

He clarified that to date, the company has not identified a single strain that can bypass the protection of the current Pfizer vaccine.

WHO urged against revaccination against COVID-19

The head of the World Health Organization (WHO), Tedros Adan Ghebreyesus, who predicted a new wave of coronavirus, has once again urged rich countries with large reserves of the COVID-19 vaccine to abandon booster vaccinations by the end of the year.

"I will not be silent when companies and countries that control the global supply of vaccines think that the world's poor should be content with vaccine leftovers," Gebreisus said.

He said he was shocked after the International Federation of Pharmaceutical Manufacturers Associations said that rich countries now have enough doses to do both booster and vaccinations in countries with a deficit.
