Suez Canal blocked by ship again
The Suez Canal is blocked by a ship for the second time in a year. This is reported by Al-Ain.
It is noted that the Coral Crystal ship was stuck about 54 kilometers from the canal in Egypt. The administration of the Suez Canal had to temporarily suspend the movement of ships until the release of Coral Crystal.
At the time of the incident, there were four ships on the channel going to the Egyptian city of Suez.
According to Sky News Arabia, the ship successfully got off the shoal, and the channel was reopened.
On March 23, the container ship Ever Given, en route from China to Rotterdam, ran aground and completely blocked traffic along the Suez Canal. As a result, several hundred vessels gathered in a queue. On March 29, Ever Given was returned to the fairway, but the ship was stuck again due to bad weather. Navigation was fully resumed by the evening of the same day.
Subsequently, a court in Egypt decided to confiscate the container ship Ever Given until its owner pays compensation. On July 4, it was reported that the parties came to an agreement, three days later the ship left the parking lot. On July 29, the container ship arrived at the port of Rotterdam.
