Two 9/11 victims were identified thanks to the latest DNA technology
The New York Office of the Forensic Medical Examiner announced that they were able to identify two more victims of the terrorist attack on September 11, 2001. This is reported by Fox News.
One of them was an insurance agent of Morgan Road, the relatives preferred not to disclose the name of the other victim. To identify the victims, new technology is used, which has been successfully tested on the search for criminals, and for the successful application of which a fragment of human bone or tissue "the size of a Tic-Tac dragee" is enough.
"Twenty years ago, we promised the families of the victims of the attack on the World Trade Center to do everything possible to identify their loved ones, and with these two new identifications, we continue to fulfill our sacred obligation. No matter how much time passes since September 11, 2001, we will never forget this day, and we are committed to using all the tools at our disposal. To make sure that the families of the victims will then be able to find out the fate of their relatives," said Dr. Barbara Sampson, the chief medical examiner of the City of New York.
According to the publication, at the moment, the bodies of 40% of the victims of the terrorist attack remain unidentified.
Earlier it became known that the United States will declassify documents about the terrorist attacks of September 11, 2001.
