WhatsApp will stop working on some iPhones and Android smartphones from November 1
The popular WhatsApp messenger will stop working on older smartphone models from November 1, 2021. This is stated in the company's statement, which was posted on its website. This will affect both iOS and Android devices.
The messenger will no longer work on smartphones with Android version 4.0.4 and lower. In addition, WhatsApp will not be able to use iPhone owners with the iOS 9 version. Due to the decision of the messenger management, users of millions of gadgets may be left without access to their correspondence, photos, and videos.
The developers urge to update the device so as not to lose the opportunity to continue using the application, or they need to save the chat history before disconnecting, so as not to lose all data.
Now about 43 smartphone models are under threat of disconnection, Metro writes.
Owners of iPhone SE, 6S, and 6S Plus should check the iOS version installed on the device. In the case of Android, the list includes Samsung Galaxy SII, Galaxy S3 mini, Sony Xperia Miro, HTC Desire 500, Lenovo A820, and others.
Earlier it became known that the development team of the popular WhatsApp messenger changed the principle of how calls work in the application. The changes affected both video and audio calls. One of the innovations was the updated interface: it now looks more like a FaceTime application.
