WHO has started tracking the «mu» — a strain of coronavirus

The World Health Organization (WHO) has included the coronavirus strain detected in Colombia in its monitoring list as a “variant of interest”. This is reported on the organization's website.

WHO has designated the new strain with the letter of the Greek alphabet “mu”. It can cause “a significant spread of infection in communities.”

Earlier, China's Permanent Representative to the UN, Chen Yu, called on the World Health Organization (WHO) to check the American Biolabs at Fort Detrick and North Carolina State University to find out whether they are the sources of the origin of the coronavirus.

This is the first time that China has submitted such a request to the WHO. A collective letter from 25 million Chinese Internet users is also attached to Chen Xu's appeal.

It is noted that the Walter Reed Research Institute of the US Army, which conducts biomedical research, including infectious diseases, is located in Fort Detrick.
