The Taliban demanded that the residents of Kabul hand over government vehicles and weapons

The representative of the Taliban movement, Zabihullah Mujahid, said that residents of the Afghan capital will have to hand over cars, weapons, and ammunition that remained from the last government within a week. His words are transmitted by Ariana News.

He added that if government vehicles and weapons are found after the deadline, “legal measures” will be taken against violators.

Earlier, the Taliban called on the citizens of Afghanistan to hand over all weapons and ammunition, explaining that the movement is able to fully ensure the security of the population of the country.

On August 15, the radical Taliban movement announced the establishment of control over the entire territory of Afghanistan. Its representatives seized state television in Kabul and in their address called on citizens to calm down. The movement rejected the idea of a transitional government, emphasizing that they are waiting for a full transfer of power.

In Kabul, thousands of people took refuge at the airport, trying to get out of the country. Several people died — due to a stampede or trying to fly away on the landing gear of American Air Force aircraft.
