There was only one explosion near Kabul airport — the US

The Pentagon does not believe there was a second explosion at or near the Baron Hotel, and one suicide bomber was responsible for the attack.

The Pentagon said there was only one explosion at the airport gates in Kabul the day before. Major General William Taylor, deputy director of the General Staff for regional operations, said this, reports CNN on Friday, August 27.

That said, the Pentagon initially said there was a second explosion near the Baron Hotel.

“I can confirm for you that we do not believe that there was a second explosion at or near the Baron Hotel, that it was a single suicide bomber. We're not sure why this report was done incorrectly,” Taylor said.

He said some of those wounded in the attack are now being treated in Germany.

“Two planes with our wounded have landed at Ramstein Air Base, and they are being treated,” Taylor added.

According to media reports, a total of six explosions occurred in the Afghan capital yesterday, killing at least 170 people, including 13 Americans. The number of injured reached 200 people.

In turn, the IS explained how they carried out the attack in Kabul. The suicide bomber at the airport gate passed through all checkpoints and came within five meters of the U.S. military.
