«Taliban» threatened the US with consequences if troops are not withdrawn by the deadline

“The Taliban“ stated that August 31 is the deadline for withdrawal of U.S. troops from Afghanistan and threatened with the consequences in case of violation of the agreements. It is reported by Sky News, citing the representative of the movement, Suhail Shaheen.

According to him, neither the U.S. nor Britain will get additional time to carry out the evacuation. “This is a red line. If they intend to continue the occupation, there will be an appropriate response,” Shaheen stressed.

The Taliban spokesman also noted that an untimely withdrawal would undermine trust between the movement and foreign forces.

Earlier, U.S. President Joe Biden said that the issue of extending the deadline for evacuating the U.S. military and U.S.-cooperating citizens of Afghanistan from the airport of Kabul was being discussed. He noted that the final decision will depend on how many people the U.S. can evacuate in time to meet an earlier deadline.
