A tropical bird that emigrated to New York swallowed garbage and died

The milky beak, which usually lives in tropical and subtropical regions, migrated to New York, but died 10 days later, according to the Staten Island Advance.

It is noted that for the first time it was noticed by ornithologist Anthony Ciancimino in a salt marsh near the Amazon plant in Bloomfield. Later, a naturalist photographer, Lawrence Pugliares, who administers the local Staten Island group on Facebook, received a call from one of its members and said that the bird was acting strangely and had signs of suffocation.

“The bird died shortly after the arrival of Pugliares,” the report says.

During the autopsy, a piece of mounting foam was found in the stomach of the milk beak.

Earlier, Tel Aviv University and the Weizmann Research Institute published the results of a study that shows that many bird species have become extinct primarily because of humans. Most of them had similar features. For example, they were large, lived on islands, and could not fly, which made them easily accessible to people and other predatory animals that hunted them in search of food.
