Biden promised poor Americans new food stamps

President Joe Biden's administration has confirmed that it will increase food stamp benefits by 25%. This was announced by the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA), the agency also plans to revise food standards.

Under the new changes, monthly benefits will increase by $36 to $157 per person. A preliminary estimate is that 42 million Americans who participate in the program will receive assistance.

Tom Vilsack, the U.S. Secretary of Agriculture, in arguing for the innovation, said this is an important change in social welfare policy. And the new program will help “stabilize our democracy.

“We can have a constitution and a declaration of independence. But if we had 42 million Americans going hungry, they wouldn't be happy, and there would be political instability,” said Vilsack.

In early August, it was reported that a growing number of affluent Americans do not want U.S. citizenship because of high taxes. In 2020, 6.7 people gave up their U.S. passports. The figure was 237 percent higher than the 2019 figure.
