The court sided with Johnny Depp in the process against Amber Heard

Heard was supposed to give the $7 million received from the divorce to charity, but it seems that she did not do it. Depp's lawyers believe that Heard could have used charity in order to tilt the course of the proceedings in her direction.

A New York court has partially granted Johnny Depp's petition in the case against his ex-wife Amber Heard. Last spring, the actor filed a lawsuit, wanting to know whether Heard fulfilled a promise to donate to charity $7 million that she received from Depp as compensation for domestic violence. Hurd promised to send funds to the American Civil Liberties Union and the Children's Hospital of Los Angeles. Depp's side called this promise a calculated manipulation since the hospital never received that money (at least, that's what Depp's lawyers say).

The court that granted Depp's claim will have to contact the hospital administration and find out whether Heard made a donation or not. If the actor's words turn out to be true and Heard really lied about her intention to spend money on charity, the domestic violence case may be reviewed. The fact is that Hurd could use charity in order to tilt the course of the proceedings in her direction.

According to Depp's lawyer, the actor is very pleased with the court's decision. He continues to insist that in his relationship with Heard, he was a victim, not a rapist. During the London hearing (which the actor lost) Depp stated that his relationship with Heard was “a crime scene waiting in the wings.” The actor said that during the quarrels, his ex-wife behaved inappropriately, rushed at him with her fists, and once threw a bottle at him, which severely injured his finger.

Hurd claims the opposite. According to her, in a state of alcohol and drug intoxication, Depp turned into a monster and could no longer control himself. “I was afraid that he would kill me-intentionally or simply by losing control and going too far. He openly threatened to kill me many times, “ Hurd said in court. — He can be very violent.”

Recall that 58-year-old Johnny Depp and 35-year-old Amber Heard were married for a little more than a year, from February 2015 to May 2016. According to the actor, he and Heard parted on a positive note. The problems began when the actress asked Depp for money. “When I refused her compensation after the divorce, Amber publicly accused me of domestic violence,” the actor says. — She staged a beating and appeared in court with bruises on her face, claiming that I beat her with a mobile phone.”

Allegations of domestic violence have damaged Depp's reputation and put his career at risk: according to the actor, he was refused new projects. In particular, Depp will no longer appear in the new parts of “Pirates of the Caribbean” and the film “Fantastic Beasts and where they live”.

Depp's friends and fans are sure that he is innocent. The actor's side was taken by his former common-law wife Vanessa Paradis, whom he left for Heard, former lover Winona Ryder, close friend Penelope Cruz and singer Sia. “I've known Johnny Depp for more than 25 years. All these years, I have known him as a kind, attentive, generous person and a father who is not capable of violence,” Paradis said.
