Due to the growing incidence of coronavirus in the world, the Chinese authorities will temporarily stop issuing foreign passports to their citizens. This is reported by Xinhua with reference to the head of the border control department of the State Migration Administration of the People's Republic of China, Liu Haitao.
The Chinese will be able to get permission to leave the country only in emergency cases. The government will strictly check every application for a trip to another state. Haitao also warned about the epidemiological control that goods imported to China will undergo.
Any transport entering China from another country will be checked for traces of coronavirus or infected people. The border services will strengthen control over illegal migration to prevent the infection from entering the PRC. Chinese border guards will also establish cooperation with their colleagues from neighboring countries to increase the effectiveness of measures against the spread of the disease.
