Only employees vaccinated against the SARS-CoV-2 coronavirus will work in Google's offices. However, the deadlines for the execution of this order are not strict: everything depends on the availability of vaccines in the countries and regions where the representative offices are located.
All Google employees who intend to work in the company's offices must be vaccinated against coronavirus without fail. This is stated in a letter to employees of Google and Alphabet CEO Sundar Pichai, which is published on the company's blog.
“Anyone who comes to work on our campuses will have to be vaccinated. We are implementing this policy in the United States in the coming weeks and will extend it to other regions in the coming months, “ the report says.
Pichai explained that the implementation of this decision will depend on local conditions and the availability of the vaccine in the countries and regions where the company's offices are located.
He also announced the extension of the company's global policy on voluntary work at home until October 18. He acknowledged that many employees are concerned about spikes in the incidence due to the delta strain and are “ worried about returning to the office.”
Alphabet employees switched to remote operation after the start of the COVID-19 coronavirus pandemic in March 2020. In May of the same year, the company announced that those who wish will be allowed to return to the offices in June or July, and the rest will be able to continue working from home until the end of the year.
However, at the end of July 2020, Pichai said that the previous forecasts for COVID-19 were too optimistic. He announced then that almost all full-time employees of Alphabet and its divisions-about 200 thousand people — as well as employees working under contracts, will not return to the offices until at least July 2021.
