Powerful downpours hit Europe again

Floods are again tormenting Europe, London is ”underwater”, some areas of Belgium and Switzerland — the streets of cities have turned into rivers.

After a few hours of rain, and London goes underwater for the second time in a month. Due to the water apocalypse in the capital of England, eight underground and one surface metro station were flooded. There are violent flows in the lobby of the London underground. The water was knee-deep there.

The water rose so rapidly that the roads turned into canals, cars floated through the streets, and public transport was stopped. In addition to the metro, automobile tunnels and road interchanges are flooded. Rescuers received more than six hundred calls about flooding of basements, cars, and roads. There are no injuries.

Some areas of Belgium also swam. The provinces of Namur and Walloon Brabant southeast of Brussels were particularly affected. The country has not yet recovered from the previous flood, which claimed the lives of 36 people, and here again-the crisis center warns about big water. The downpours do not stop and become even more dangerous.

It is pouring like a bucket in central Switzerland. There are also railway stations, roads, and sidewalks underwater. The cantons of Lucerne and Zug were mainly affected, besides the latter was also covered with hail. Underground garages, basements, and streets in five municipalities have gone underwater.

Recall that Germany has recently suffered the most from the “big water”. German Chancellor Angela Merkel called the situation with floods in the country frightening and indescribable.
