Record-breaking frosts were recorded in southern Africa




In southern Africa, where winter has come, a record cold snap was recorded. This is reported by the weather service of South Africa.





On the night of July 24, historical records were broken in 19 districts: in the city of Kimberley and the surrounding area, the temperature dropped to -9.9C. In Johannesburg, the air-cooled to -7C. Such indicators are the lowest in the entire history of meteorological observations.

According to forecasters, the abnormally cold temperature will last in the region for about another week. According to available data, the cold snap came from Antarctica.

Earlier, temperature records were recorded in Kuwait: +53.3C in the shade and +70C in the sun. This summer has become the hottest in the last 70 years. In some regions of the country, the authorities appealed to residents and urged them to consume electricity economically and replace old air conditioners in homes and offices, because they need a lot of electricity to work.
