The United States opposed the NATO policy on the Crimea

The provocations of NATO troops led by the United States against Russia have a negative impact on the reputation of the member countries of the alliance, said the author of the American magazine The National Interest Dominic Sansone.

The publication notes that the aggressive rhetoric of the White House and its NATO allies after the return of Crimea to Russia “ goes beyond the national interests of Western countries and does not find support from European and American citizens.”

“Washington will gain little from such actions, but it will also lose a lot both in the image and in influence,” Sansone said.

In his opinion, none of the NATO members is ready to unleash real military conflicts. And this turns any of their provocative actions or statements into a bluff.

Recall that on June 23, the Black Sea Fleet, together with the Border Service of the FSB of Russia, stopped the violation of the Russian state border by a British destroyer, while it was necessary to make warning shots and bombing. The Russian Defense Ministry accused the command of the British destroyer of dangerous actions and gross violation of the UN Convention on the Law of the Sea and demanded an investigation of the actions of the ship's crew.

The British authorities then made a statement that the Royal Navy destroyer allegedly did not enter Russian territorial waters and was not fired at. The Russian Foreign Ministry accused the British Defense Ministry of deliberate lies.
