Erdogan asked Putin not to interfere in the confrontation between the Turkish and Syrian forces

Turkish President Tayyip Erdogan on Saturday, February 29, said that during a conversation with Russian President Vladimir Putin, he proposed not to interfere in the confrontation between Turkey and the Syrian authorities.

“The Syrian question is by no means an adventure or a desire to expand the borders. We didn’t enter there at the invitation of Assad but at the invitation of the Syrian people. And until the people ask us to leave, we won’t leave. I told Putin: leave us with the one-on-one regime, we ourselves will do what is needed, ”Erdogan said, speaking in Istanbul.

According to him, the death toll of the Turkish military during the airstrike of the Syrian army in Idlib increased to 36.

“We destroyed more than 2100 Syrian military, 300 units of military vehicles, seven chemical depots. And we will continue to destroy them,” the Turkish president added.

Recall that on Friday night, the Syrian Air Force, together with Russian aviation, attacked a convoy of the Turkish army in Syria. Killed more than 30 Turkish militaries.

Ankara responded with air and ground attacks on Syrian government forces in Idlib.

The Russian Defense Ministry said that Syrian troops fired on the Turkish convoy since it was among the advancing militants. The ministry also emphasized that the forces of the Russian Federation did not participate in the attack.

The USA and EU countries supported Turkey during an emergency meeting of the UN Security Council on Idlib.
