Chinese ships entered the territorial waters of Japan near the disputed islands




Four patrol ships of the People's Republic of China entered the territorial waters of Japan near the Senkaku Islands, the Kyodo news agency reports.





As reported, the incident occurred on the morning of Saturday, June 26.

According to available information, the Chinese ships entered the territorial waters of Japan in the area of the Senkaku Islands (Chinese name Diaoyu), which China claims, and stayed there for several hours. They were trying to approach Japanese fishing vessels.

According to the Japanese Maritime Security Service, this is the 26th incident in the territorial waters in this area since the beginning of the year, in which Chinese ships are involved.

Earlier, the head of the Pentagon, Lloyd Austin, announced the US intention to defend the Senkaku Islands, which are disputed by China.
