The U.S. State Department will be decorated with an LGBT symbol

This week, the US State Department will raise the rainbow flag of the LGBT community for the first time. This was announced by Secretary of State Anthony Blinken at his speech in Washington.

According to Blinken, the flag will be displayed from June 26 to 28. The progressive flag will fly at the State Department, “ he said.

Blinken recalled that on June 26, the United States celebrates the legalization of same-sex marriage, and on June 28, the anniversary of the riots in a gay club in New York, which occurred in 1969. The latter date is celebrated as one of the first acts of resistance of the LGBT community to harassment by society.

The Secretary of State did not specify whether the rainbow flag would be displayed outside or inside the building.

In addition to the colors of the rainbow, the “progressive flag” includes black and brown stripes placed there in solidarity with African Americans, as well as a yellow triangle and a purple circle — symbols of transgender and intersex people.

Earlier it was reported that the driver of a pickup truck ran over the spectators of a gay pride parade in the city of Ford-Lauderdale in the US state of Florida. As a result of the collision, one person was killed and another was injured.
