The President of the United States noted the uniqueness of the current summit and told who helped them in discussing important issues.
The President of the United States, Joe Biden, explained that his meeting with Russian President Vladimir Putin ended much earlier than expected because it turned out that a little more than two hours was enough, besides they were “helped”.
He said this during a press conference following the meeting in Geneva.
“The reason it didn't last any longer is that: the two heads of state spent more than two hours across the table from each other, talking about the smallest details of the questions tormenting them — do you remember when it was still like this? I don't remember,” Biden said.
He added that, among other things, he and Putin were assisted by the defense ministers of the two countries, Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov and US Secretary of State Anthony Blinken.
“We were helped by our defense ministers, our ambassadors, and the US Secretary of State was always with me. Lavrov and Blinken spoke about some issues that require clarification and additional discussion. We clarified it so that we could understand each other correctly. And when we talked for a couple of hours, we thought, what's next? And then we will have to look in 3-6 months and see if we are closer to the fundamental negotiations on the strategy of relations and progress, “ Biden said.
During the press conference, the President of the United States also noted that the real results of his meeting with the head of the Kremlin, Vladimir Putin, will become clear in at least six months, but generally assessed the summit positively.
Putin also said that there was no hostility in the talks with Biden.
