The US launches Minotaur I rocket with reconnaissance satellites




This launch was the second from the spaceport on Wallops Island in the interests of the National Office of Military Space Intelligence of the United States in the last 12 months.





In the United States, a successful launch of the Minotaur I launch vehicle took place from the spaceport on Wallops Island in Virginia. It launched three reconnaissance satellites into orbit. This was announced on Tuesday, June 15.

The rocket launched at 09: 35 East Coast time. It puts satellites into orbit for the US National Office of Military Space Intelligence (NRO). Details are not disclosed due to the secrecy of the mission. The broadcast was completed two minutes after the launch, also due to the secrecy of the mission.

According to the NRO, this launch was the second from the spaceport on Wallops Island in the interests of this intelligence service in the last 12 months. The NRO noted that the NROL-111 mission will help “ protect the United States and its allies 24 hours a day, 365 days a year.”

The Minotaur I four-stage launch vehicle was developed by Northrop Grumman Corporation.
