Jeff Bezos announces date for space flight

The richest man in the world will also become the richest man who has traveled outside our planet — he has decided to bring his brother with him.

Amazon CEO and the richest man on the planet Jeff Bezos is going to go into space next month and take his brother with him.

The businessman announced this on his Instagram page.

“When you see Earth from space, it changes you. It changes your relationship with this planet, with humanity. This is one Earth. I want to go on this flight because this is what I've wanted to do my whole life. It's an adventure. It's very important to me,” Bezos says.

On July 20, a New Shepard rocket from his company, Blue Origin, will carry the capsule with him and his younger brother Mark Bezos to an altitude of 100 kilometers above sea level — the so-called Carman Line.

At this stage, the capsule will detach from the rocket, and those who are inside will be able to see with their own eyes the curvature of the Earth and experience weightlessness. After that, the capsule with the help of parachutes will land in the desert of West Texas.

With the Bezos brothers, Blue Origin will send another person into space -- the third seat in the capsule will be auctioned June 12. At the moment the maximum bid reaches 2.8 million dollars.

It is noteworthy that this will be the first manned flight New Shepard with a man on board.

Recall that Bezos's main rival in the conquest of space by the private sector — SpaceX owner Elon Musk — has not yet flown into space, although he plans to build a city on Mars.

At the same time, Blue Origin is trying to officially challenge NASA's deal with SpaceX to land a man on the moon.
