Neymar accused of harassing Nike employee

The Nike brand has terminated the contract with the world football star Neymar due to harassment of an employee of the company.

The offer of oral sex happened in 2016, the contract was terminated in 2020, and the story only surfaced now. The footballer claims that nothing happened. This is reported by The Wall Street Journal.

The girl in 2016 told colleagues that Neymar forced her to have sex while working on one of the promotions. She claims that the Brazilian tried to force her to perform oral sex during a marketing trip to New York.

A Nike employee (who still works for the company) said that she and another employee were asked to help Neymar back to the room — the player was drunk. The girl noted that he tried to prevent her from leaving the room, and then chased her naked down the corridor.

In 2018, the woman filed a formal complaint with Nike, after which the company launched an investigation and temporarily stopped holding promotional events with Neymar. The athlete's refusal to “cooperate with the investigation of the employee's plausible allegations of wrongdoing” led to the termination of the contract in August 2020, Nike spokeswoman Hillary Crane told the WSJ.

She noted that when rejecting the contract with Neymar, the company did not name the reasons, as the facts that would allow presenting the player with reasoned charges were not revealed. At the time of the breakup, Neymar had been working with Nike for 15 years, and the agreement was to last for another 8. After the termination of the cooperation, the Brazilian signed a contract with Puma.

Neymar denies the allegations. In a statement, representatives of the football player noted that he will “resolutely defend himself against baseless attacks” in the event of formal charges, which has not yet happened. Neymar's representatives told the WSJ that the reasons for breaking the contract were “commercial.”

The father of the football player in a comment to the Brazilian edition of Fohla expressed the opinion that Nike is trying to take revenge on his son for refusing to cooperate, which occurred on his initiative.

- Everyone who leaves Nike is blamed for this. It's very strange, " Neymar Sr. said.

In 2019, Neymar was accused of raping model Najil Trindade, but law enforcement officers did not prove the guilt, and the player was found not guilty.

For three years, the story of the alleged harassment of model Catherine Mayorga, which was allowed by another star football player, Cristiano Ronaldo, has been dragging on. On July 23, 2019, Ronaldo was cleared of rape charges, but recently Mayorga rolled out a $ 64 million lawsuit against him.

The famous actor Gerard Depardieu was also charged with harassment (he denies them). We also reported that "House of Cards" star Kevin Spacey will return to the movies again - for the first time since the harassment allegations that nearly destroyed his career.
