The investigation into the interference of former Ukrainian officials in the US elections in 2020 is currently being conducted by US prosecutors. This is reported by The New York Times, citing informed sources.
According to the publication, several Ukrainian ex-officials tried to influence the outcome of the US election by spreading вЂњunfounded allegationsвЂќ of corruption against President-elect Joe Biden, including through the former lawyer of former US President Donald Trump, Rudolph Giuliani. The investigation is being conducted by federal prosecutors in Brooklyn, along with the FBI.
The investigation examined Giuliani's trip to Europe in December 2019, where he met with several representatives of Ukraine. One of these people вЂ” the deputy of the Verkhovna Rada Andrey Drach-is at the center of the investigation.
The newspaper notes that at the moment it remains unclear whether the investigation will lead to charges against Ukrainian citizens.
