The US Secretary of State held telephone talks with Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov, once again emphasizing Biden's tough stance
The head of the State Department of the United States, Antony Blinken, announced the determination of President Joe Biden to protect American citizens and the interests of the United States and its allies from the malicious actions of Russia.
He said this to Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov during a telephone conversation, the press service of the State Department reports.
“Secretary Blinken reaffirmed President Biden's determination to protect U.S. citizens and firmly defend U.S. interests in response to Russian actions that harm us or our allies,” the statement said.
Blinken also called on Russia to release American citizens Paul Whelan and Trevor Reed, who are being held by Moscow.
Lavrov and Blinken also discussed the preparations for the Arctic Council ministerial meeting scheduled for next week and the situation around the DPRK.
Recall that on the eve of the State Department said that Russia has only partially withdrawn troops from the borders of Ukraine, there is still too large a concentration of forces, so the tension is still extremely high, which causes concern for the United States.
