The Pentagon has denied the withdrawal of U.S. troops from Iraq

The Iraqi side’s information about the withdrawal of the US military is not true, the defense department emphasized.

Information about the beginning of the withdrawal of US troops from 15 military bases located in Iraq does not correspond to reality. On Monday, February 10, said an official representative of the Central Command of the US Armed Forces, Lt. Col. Earl Brown.

“These messages are false,” Brown said.

Earlier, Sky News Arabia, citing a statement by Ali Al-Ghanim, a member of the Iraqi parliament’s defense and security committee, said the US had begun withdrawing its troops from 15 military bases in Iraq.

Recall that after a missile strike by the United States near the Baghdad airport, which killed Iranian general Qassem Suleimani, the Iraqi parliament adopted a resolution demanding the complete withdrawal of all foreign troops from the country.

In response, US President Donald Trump threatened Baghdad with “unprecedented sanctions” and said that US troops would not leave the country until Iraq paid for the airbase that was built.
