Apple, Google, and Microsoft asked the US government for $50 billion

The largest US technology corporations have formed a coalition because of the shortage of chips. It includes major chip manufacturers in the country (Intel, Nvidia, and Qualcomm), as well as companies that use chips in their technology (Apple, Google, Amazon Web Services, Microsoft, Verizon, and AT&T), writes The New York Times.

According to the newspaper, these companies are asking the US government to allocate $50 billion for research and expansion of semiconductor production.

According to the publication, the coalition prepared and sent a letter to the US Congress, in which it pointed out the shortage of semiconductors and noted that in the long term, the funding will help create a “sustainable supply chain of chips without failures” in the state.

It is noted that the shortage of chips occurred due to a lack of semiconductors, which arose in the coronavirus pandemic due to increased demand for electronics.

Earlier, the media called the date when the new products from Apple, namely the iPad Pro, iMac, and Apple TV 4K, will go on public sale.
