Western countries have not yet commented on the bold statement of the Iranian president about the end of the sanctions wars
Iran is optimistic about the negotiations on the resumption of the 2015 nuclear deal and is waiting for the lifting of sanctions.
This is reported by the Iranian media with reference to the country's President Hassan Rouhani, reports Reuters.
According to Rouhani, it remains to agree on only the details, but from US officials or other parties to the agreement, confirmation of the words of the Iranian leader has not yet been followed.
“We have reached a point where the Americans and the Europeans are openly saying that they have no choice but to lift the sanctions and return to the (nuclear deal) and that almost all major sanctions have been lifted and negotiations on some details are continuing,” Rouhani said, without elaborating.
As you know, US representatives returned to Vienna this week for the fourth round of indirect talks with Iran on resuming compliance with the agreement, which former US President Donald Trump abandoned in 2018, prompting Iran to start violating its terms about a year later.
The essence of the agreement was that Iran pledged to take steps to curtail its nuclear program to make it harder to obtain fissile material for nuclear weapons in exchange for relief from US, EU, and UN sanctions. Tehran denies any nuclear weapons ambitions.
Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif said earlier that the United States is obliged to help renew the nuclear deal after US President Joe Biden said it was unclear how seriously Tehran is taking negotiations on the agreement.
