The American Institute for Health Measurement and Evaluation (IHME) has questioned the official data on deaths from COVID-19. This is reported on the website of the Institute.
The IHME noted that since the beginning of the pandemic, about 6.9 million people worldwide have died from coronavirus infection. However, according to the latest official data, the number of victims of COVID-19 in the world is 3.2 million people.
The institute's statement clarifies that the published data includes only deaths directly related to coronavirus infection, while experts did not take into account deaths due to the overload of the health system during the pandemic.
It is noted that the expert's estimates are based on the “global burden of disease” methodology, which has been used in similar studies since 1990.
