Russia continues to pose a military threat on the Ukrainian border, despite the withdrawal of some personnel and equipment.
This was stated by US Secretary of State Antony Blinken at a press conference with President Vladimir Zelensky in Kyiv.
“The threats remain. Russia has withdrawn some troops, but a significant part remains on the border with Ukraine. Russia is capable of acting aggressively in a fairly short time if it decides to do so. We are carefully monitoring the situation, " Blinken said.
He noted approvingly that Ukraine reacted with restraint to Russia's provocations. “We are focused on these issues, this was recently discussed at a meeting of NATO, as well as the Group of Seven,” Blinken said.
The Secretary of State confirmed that the United States is considering strengthening cooperation and assistance in the field of security for Ukraine.
“We also discussed issues of diplomacy, the Minsk process and are trying to find ways to facilitate a settlement. However, Russia continues to refuse to take steps towards it. This applies to both Crimea and Donbas. It is important to restore first of all control over the borders, territorial integrity, and sovereignty of Ukraine within its internationally recognized borders, " Blinken said.
