A third of EU residents received the first dose of the vaccine

A third of the population of the European Union received the first dose of the drug from the coronavirus, 12% — both doses. This was announced by the European Commissioner for Health Stella Kyriakidis

“Now more than 30% of the EU population has received the first dose, and we have reached 12% for the second dose,” she said.

The European Commission expressed hope that 70% of citizens will be vaccinated in July. In Europe, 45 million people were infected with the coronavirus, and more than a million patients died.

Earlier, the World Health Organization warned European countries that lifting restrictions too quickly could lead to an increase in the incidence of coronavirus.

According to Hans Kluge, head of the WHO European division, many European countries are planning to ease the restrictions in the near future. According to him, too fast cancellation of measures can lead to “a strong storm in any country.”
