Kim Kardashian caught up in a smuggling scandal

In the name of the celebrity, a fragment of an ancient Roman statue was purchased and delivered, which the Italian authorities believe was stolen.

American TV star, businesswoman, and socialite Kim Kardashian was at the center of a scandal over smuggling. This was reported on May 5 by the Daily Mail.

It is noted that in 2016, customs officers confiscated a fragment of the ancient Roman statue of Athena by the sculptor Myron, which was part of a batch of interior items in the name of Kim Kardashian with a total value of $750,000.

The limestone statue dates from the first century and arrived in Los Angeles when Kardashian and her husband, rapper Kanye West, were renovating their home in Calabasas.

Last week, the US authorities filed a civil lawsuit for the confiscation of the specified property. Along with Kim, the documents include Axel Vervoordt — a famous Belgian designer and antique dealer who oversaw the renovation of the Kardashian house.

The reality TV star denies any involvement in the smuggling. Her representative said that Kim did not buy the statue and her name could be used without permission.

According to him, Kardashian encourages the investigation and hopes that the sculpture will be returned to its rightful owners.
